Rules for Being a Soulless Modern Person

Rules for Being a Modern Person

1. Something else is always to blame. Good targets: gods, systems of government, other demographics that oppress you.

2. It's all about you.

3. You must have something to contribute on every topic, and it must be ironic, unusual or a unique combination or you're not really that interesting.

4. Anything that requires actual commitment is bad and people who do it are tools.

5. The best state of the world is you in command of your kingdom, errr apartment or house, entertaining yourself with no obligations.

6. If something might challenge you, and you might end up looking stupid if you fail at it, make fun of it.

7. If something brings pleasure, that is a brilliant argument for it regardless of the consequences.

8. Anything that requires more than two steps should be either ignored, or you can hire Mexicans to do it.

9. If things don't go your way, throw a tantrum.

10. If everyone does the above, everything will become chaotic and moribund, and then you'll have zero accountability. Be an anarchist, support chaos, etc.

Some Dumb Board

If we're all dramatic, none of us will have to face reality. Let's make that deal, because none of us is the devil. Maybe all of us is.

More Signs of a Dying Culture

Dr Susham Gupta, a specialist registrar in adult and old age psychiatry, and Dr James Warner, a consultant in older adults' psychiatry, said the relative price of alcohol has halved in real terms since the 1960s.

At the same time average annual consumption of alcohol per person has doubled from less than six litres to more than 11.5 litres in 2000.

The Telegraph

People have a glass of wine or two a day when they're happy.

When they're not happy, they drink like fish and pretend it's a good time.

More signs of the death of the West.

With all of the indigenous people being so dramatic and self-obsessed and emotionally needy, and all of the newcomers being so greedy and yet unwilling to participate in the local culture, it's no wonder everything seems to fail lately: nature wants us dead because we've outlived our usefulness as a species.

The Politics of Revenge

Title: Cautious joy as blacks imagine Obama win

Obama's potential victory represents a previously unimaginable triumph over centuries of racism. But beneath the hope and pride lies fear: of polling inaccuracy, voting chicanery, or the type of injustice and violence that have historically stymied African-American progress.

Blacks experience joy, and that implies that -- well, there's always a demographic majority, and if you are from that majority but have failed at it, you hate that majority and try to destroy it. One of your weapons is legalizing destructive behavior. Another is importing people to replace the majority.

These are just some of the many reasons why multiculturalism always fails, and always precedes the collapse of empires. They begin collapsing when their anti-majority types start parasitizing and eating away at their core, and then when the newcomers arrive, there's no common ground and they disintegrate into internal bickering.

Which this article shows us in process.

Title: Europe has a long wait for its Obama

Not only are droves of Europeans hoping for a victory by the U.S. Democratic presidential candidate, many are asking when France, Germany or Britain will get a chance to cast a ballot for a leader from their own burgeoning minorities.

Discrimination is only one reason that citizens of immigrant origin are unlikely to soon produce a leader able to crack the system. Another is that the Old World is relatively new to the issue of minorities of color.

"Obama hasn't happened overnight," said Danny Sriskandarajah of the Institute for Public Policy Research in Britain. "It took generations of minority activism in the U.S. to create this space and develop that sort of political acumen ... which is largely absent from Europe."

Wow, we can all get along... too bad it's at the expense of Europe's native culture, and resentments continue to fester.

Let's make sure everyone is suffering just as our dying empire is, and then we won't feel so alone as we sail off into the sunset marked NOBODY CARES.

Letting the Individual Decide What is Offensive and Scary: Sure Path to Tyranny

This article isn't unique:

Tuesday morning, Jordan was assigned to draw a scary Halloween mask in art class.

By the end of the day, Jordan was being told he could not return to Pooler Elementary School until he passed a psychological evaluation.

Savannah Now

The teacher is afraid the drawing resembles gang symbolism.

First, if fifth graders are joining gangs, the game is already over.

Second, if we allow individuals to gain self-importance by finding things to be offended, worried, upset over and give them the ability to bring on a police/psychologist/media holocaust as a result, they're going to do it.

Like kids pulling fire alarms.

For the attention.

And if many do that, society becomes a drama competition, and rapidly truth is lost.

Weird Science: Fecal Implants Replace Local Culture

With the proliferation of dangerous superbugs that are resistant to antibiotics, the unusual treatment is gaining respect from researchers across the country.

That shift in thinking reflects a growing regard for the complex and largely unknown bacterial ecosystem inside the human body.

The "microbiome," as it is known, is now the focus of a $115 million federal research project to investigate the symbiotic bond between humans and their bacteria.

"If the normal flora in the colon is destroyed, in my book, you replace it," said Aas, a gastroenterologist who is now semi-retired.

The cure? Replace all the bacteria in the patient's gut with a tiny dose of someone else's stool.

Vomitous. Yet, it makes sense. We each carry within us a culture of microbes that are helpful to us.

If they are destroyed, something must replace them. It will be either infectious microbes, or helpful ones -- from the stool of someone else.

Our grandparents who told us to not be afraid of a little dirt had a good point. What we know and have mastered won't kill us, so we should expose ourselves to the microbes around us and get to know them.

It's the same way with the cultures of nations. If you don't nourish them, in all their glorious weirdness, they die out, and are replaced by the unhelpful -- parasites.

Why Are Modern People Narcissistic and Useless?

I find myself asking: why is it that people online are such irrational, queeny bitches?

The answer: like people in our society, they're narcissistic and delusional, but it's easier to do online because you can claim to be a King and no one will immediately know the difference.

People think they gain points by making niggling criticisms, spouting big words, spouting small words, repeating media memes, making dumb jokes, acting "unique," being dramatic... don't you realize it's a trap?

Sick people want you to waste your life. They want to drag you down. Nothing makes them happier than seeing you stumble over your own feet, tangled up in a net of their bullshit. They win / YOU LOSE , and that's the end of it. It makes them feel better about being losers.

I see a lot of this behavior on this forum, but it's 25% of the time here versus 55% of the time at the other forums I like.

I see a lot of this behavior in metal, now, and it explains why all metal now is liberal and inconsequential. There is literally nothing good coming out, except the "exceptions" who have been around for decades. Gimme a break. Rock music is just as bad.

Durrrrr... maybe traps take a long time to spring... from 1968 to 2008... making people complete narcissists.

Think of it this way:

Someone learns to do something, like make great metal or start a society. Others who come after can only see the effects, not what motivated this person.

They pretend to be that person and imitate his gestures, not his ideas. How monkey!

Soon you have idiots competing for appearance, not knowing that they've killed the goose that laid the golden egg.

No wonder humanity hates itself. The stupidity is oppressive.

For you the person reading: the trap is out there. People want you to think you're a Big Deal without having done anything important, like having written a black metal album as good as Burzum. You being a Big Deal comes at the cost of everyone else being a Big Deal, so you're all equal -- and equally non-important now. You can trade your MySpace bands and no one is going to care about any of them. It's a trap.

The only way to escape the trap is to get over yourselves. You can do it through philosophy, but only applied with discipline -- not while you're listening to Portal, playing your ironic WOW character and posting to some dumbass metal forum. You need to get over yourselves.

Some Dumb Forum

The disease of modernity is one of introversion.

Our gadgets do the work; we command them; we master nature; now the question is: what's in our souls?

Most people have garbage in their souls. So they do stupid unproductive things like drive around in RVs, bang hookers and deal drugs, listen to moron music, and so forth.

Other people, trying to compete with them, start imitating their narcissism. The result is chaos.

More Election Fraud: Coercing the Mentally Retarded Vote

[B]us loads of mentally retarded and severely handicapped patients from a state funded facility called The Caswell Center were being transported to the voting location and their black democratic state employee aids were voting for them. They claimed they were assisting; but, how can institutionalized mentally retarded patients know how to vote much less make a reasonable logical decision? Most of them cannot read or write and many of them are also blind.

Daily Paul

Here's The Caswell Center in all of its glory.

What a dirty election, and so close! -- the candidates must not be that different. Yet one ascribes to an insane Neo-Stalinist denial of reality, and the other is basically a party man and conservative in the sense that he won't deviate from what has worked for the last eight years -- which most of the nation does not believe has worked.

Yet it's clear it won't solve anything because the system itself is so entrenched: lobbyists, media influencing votes, the vast armada of clueless entitlement-seekers, and so on. This country is awash in parasites, like a dying dog.

Another Election Scandal For Telling the Truth

The head of the Hillsborough GOP, David Storck, distributed an email from a Republican Party volunteer saying the voters are a threat.

That's because, as the volunteer says in the email, he sees "car loads of black Obama supporters coming from the inner city to cast their votes for Obama."

It goes on to say, "This is their chance to get a black president and they seem to care little the he is at minimum a socialist and probably Marxist in his core beliefs." The Republican volunteer says that is because, "After all he is black- no experience or accomplishments but he is black."

Hillsborough Commissioner Kevin White says, "There's no place in our community for those types of views."

Tampa Bays 10

What's more racist:

(a) Voting for a candidate because he's of your race
(b) Pointing this out in an email

If speed metal bands interpreted hardcore punk in a heavy metal way, Swedish death metal interpreted heavy metal in a punk hardcore way, fusing the mix of melodic and chromatic progressions of bands like Discharge with the fills and structure of heavy metal. Nihilist essentially continued in Entombed, sans bassist Hedlund who went on to form Unleashed, and used this songwriting strategy to great advantage.

Just Kill Him

Perfetto's biggest fear, he says, is that he's going to reoffend. His measure of success isn't reassuring. "I haven't bought pornography yet, and I've been out (of prison) almost a week," he said yesterday.

He failed so frequently in prison that he "maxed out" his sentence last week and landed in Concord alone, broke and homeless. He can't get into a shelter, because none takes sex offenders. And he can't get treatment, because he can't pay for it.

Concord Monitor

He's compulsively self-destructive, dangerous, and can't stop failing. We will either:

(a) Pay lots of money to watch over him.
(b) Kill or exile him.

I would rather the money went to positive things, like schools and parks.

"Everyone" Can Be Wrong -- And They Usually Are

Everyone thought Reagan was going to be a horrible president. Everyone thought his military build up would lead to war. Everyone was wrong.

Everyone thinks Obama is going to be wonderful. I think everyone is wrong. I think we are doomed.

Politics Forum

Most people are always wrong. They react emotionally and impulsively.

They follow trends, not think through the issues -- and the interaction between proposed plans and reality as we know it.

As a result, there's a small minority who have a clue and everyone else runs a dog and pony show while, behind the scenes, oligarchs steal everything they have.

Obama is an emotionally satisfying candidate. He runs on the idea of the people having more power -- who doesn't like the sound of that? Of Spreading the Wealth -- what's there not to like, on the surface? Of racial reconciliation, of being a nice guy, of being a righter of historical wrongs. All these things look good, sound good, etc. until you analyze their impact on reality.

Probably 5% of voters at most have that ability, and they aren't voting Democratic.

Do Generations X and Y Have a 'Rage Deficit'?

It seems that, at least in America, we're rage-deficient, a passive-aggressive generation, if you will. We bottle up our rage at our jobs, at those around us, at wars, all to maintain a sense of comfort in the known. What I am saying is nothing new, nothing extraordinary – it is probably a clichéd platitude by now – but that doesn't make it any less true. The question that needs to be asked, however, is where has the rage gone? Where is the purifying, obsessive voice that the emotion lends to human individuals?

Lateral Noise

Rage is indignation mated with aggression. We have no deficient of indignation, entitlement, resentment, envy, etc.

What we need isn't rage, but a rage for creation of a new culture and new nation to replace what has become a tired shadow of its past imitating that past while nodding to the future, like a heroin addict on the nod.

I find that the best of classical music has this rage for order, or vir.

Candidates Ensure Social Popularity Eclipses Study of The Issues

The internal campaign idea is to twist, distort, humiliate and finally dispirit you.

We pay people and organize people to go to all the online sites and “play the part of a clinton or mccain supporter who just switched our support for obama”

We do this to stifle your motivation and to destroy your confidence.

There is a huge staff of people working around the clock, watching every site, blogs, etc. We flood these sites. We have had a goal to overwhelm.

Sprinkle in mass vote confusion and it becomes bewildering. Most people lose patience and just give up on their support of a candidate and decide to just block out tv, news, websites, etc.

This surprisingly has had a huge suppressing movement and vote turnout issues.

Some Obama Staffer

It's hard to buck a trend, and admit that Barack Obama is a SOCIALLY popular candidate with almost no substance.

He's not really a good public speaker. He doesn't have any articulated plan. His tendencies don't differ from those of other Democrats.

So why do people like him?

He's the man who fits the role. They are angry at George Bush because they don't like wars and the economy has had a periodic downturn, although that has nothing to do with who's president.

They're angry at this economy because some were winners and hey, they're not. They're the people who DO NOT earn $140,000 a year and live in the suburbs, which means that as our country slides into third-world status, they're going to be the bottoms not the tops.

They're angry and like rioters, they're going to throw a hissy fit and then ignore it when what is promised to them is also ignored. They do not have a constructive plan, only a destructive one: revenge at The Other.

Ignorance has no clearer face.

Blasphemy is To Speak of the Literal Truth

Jesus Christ was not God, and Mary was not a virgin, according to a controversial new book written by an Australian Catholic priest.

“What a breathtaking know-all, to claim he knows the mind of Christ contrary to scripture and tradition. His words rob Christianity entirely of its meaning and purpose,” Father Robbie told News Ltd.

“The Council of Nicaea settled the question that Christ was God in 325, so he is 1700 years out of date.

“The rest is a regurgitation of every discredited 19th-century liberal Protestant German cliche in the book.”

Sounds like liberals telling biological determinists or conservatives or traditionalists that they're crazy, out of date, not Progressive enough, etc. and it's the same mechanism: imply ignorance of the other to hide your own.

While the rest of the world hated Europe's guts for being so rich, technologically and culturally advanced, and powerful, Europe committed that age-old human stupidity: instead of moving forward, squabble over what we have, because the weakest man in the group is nervous.

The result, World War I, was a disaster in that everyone who participated gained nothing and sacrificed themselves in a sociopathic display of mass suicide. "The War to End All Wars" may have been our first exposure to how in politics a pleasant lie is far more electable than a difficult truth. It's amazing democracy wasn't thrown out completely after that.

The number of World War I casualties, both military and civilian, was over 40 million — 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. This includes 9.7 million military deaths and about 10 million civilian deaths. The Entente Powers (also known as the Allies) lost more than 5 million soldiers and the Central Powers about 4 million.

Even more is the damage to populations themselves. Austria-Hungary lost 1.1 million out of a population of 51.4 million; Germany lost 2 million out of 65 million. The French got really devastated: 1.4 million dead out of 40 million people. The Russians and the USA had negligible deaths in this regard, but the UK lost .9m from a population of 45m, so was somewhere in the middle.

This fratricidal war weakened Europe and created political conflicts that endure to this day, all in the name of some great liberal crusade to end nationalism -- one nation, one tribe -- and establish a Utopian order in which peace would prevail. What illusory empty goals, and yet the bigger the lie, the bigger the piles of bodies of otherwise good men.

Narcissistic Society Prompts Rise of Adultery

In the interviews, only 1 percent of women said they had been unfaithful to their husbands in the past year; on the computer questionnaire, more than 6 percent did.

At the same time, experts say that surveys appearing in sources like women’s magazines may overstate the adultery rate, because they suffer from what pollsters call selection bias: the respondents select themselves and may be more likely to report infidelity.

But a handful of new studies suggest surprising changes in the marital landscape. Infidelity appears to be on the rise, particularly among older men and young couples. Notably, women appear to be closing the adultery gap: younger women appear to be cheating on their spouses nearly as often as men.

The survey data show that in any given year, about 10 percent of married people — 12 percent of men and 7 percent of women — say they have had sex outside their marriage.

Most people are unable to control their own emotions, or urges.

In some cases, it seems to make sense to have sex outside the marriage. Satisfy desires, and keep the union intact. But that requires deception of your spouse, which means you have basically killed the marriage anyway.

Government tries to encourage people to get married by making it a legal status with tax breaks. However, that may just encourage marriages of convenience. Some people should never marry, or breed. Some should.

Some are born to sweet delight; some are born to the endless night. One side (liberals, leftists) want you to do something about that, and the others are content to see it as part of reality and thus 100% functional as it is.

Humanity Using 30% More Resources Than Nature Can Provide -- And It Will Get Worse as Population Increases

The Living Planet report calculates that humans are using 30% more resources than the Earth can replenish each year, which is leading to deforestation, degraded soils, polluted air and water, and dramatic declines in numbers of fish and other species. As a result, we are running up an ecological debt of $4tr (£2.5tr) to $4.5tr every year - double the estimated losses made by the world's financial institutions as a result of the credit crisis - say the report's authors, led by the conservation group WWF, formerly the World Wildlife Fund.

The problem is also getting worse as populations and consumption keep growing faster than technology finds new ways of expanding what can be produced from the natural world. This had led the report to predict that by 2030, if nothing changes, mankind would need two planets to sustain its lifestyle.

The Guardian

Overpopulation and consumption are the problems.

Consumption -- the state of allowing idiots to buy whatever they can afford or buy on credit, and then being surprised when they amass personal landfills of dubious goods -- is the industrialized/first world problem.

Overpopulation -- being so nice to people that we allow those to breed who nature would not allow to survive, then hand them subsidies -- is a third world problem, with a third world existing in the slums of the USA and Europe that mirrors the third world in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Iceland (just kidding about that last part).

The solution is simple: the word "No."

Tell people "no," they can't buy whatever they think they want.

Tell others "no," there's no welfare -- only job insurance.

Tell others "no," we're not going to subsidize them for breeding.

What protects idiots against NO?

Why liberalism -- and its ecclesiastical counterpart, symbolist religion -- of course. They have equal rights to you, even if you're twice as smart. They are important, they're undiscovered artists and geniuses. They're downtrodden victims of oppression. How dare you tell them NO?

Even if you would save the world.

Hanging Palin not Hate Crime; Hanging Obama may be

A West Hollywood Halloween display showing a likeness of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin hanging by a noose has caused a furor among some residents who reported it as a hate crime, authorities said Monday.

Whitmore said that potential hate crimes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If the same display had been made of a Barack Obama-like doll, for example, authorities would have to evaluate it independently, Whitmore said.

“That adds a whole other social, historical hate aspect to the display, and that is embedded in the consciousness of the country,” he said, adding he’s not sure whether it would be a hate crime.

L.A. Times

This double standard will only cause future resentment.

Problems With Equality in Education

High schools are coming under pressure from the federal government to improve the nation's dismal dropout rate -- one in four students.

"In this country today, half of our minority students do not get out of high school on time. That's outrageous," Spellings said in Columbia, S.C.

Making schools responsible for progress in every group of students puts pressure on schools to improve.

Problem: not every student is equal, and up to half of them would be happier in vocational education.

"Solution": insist the system find some way to pass them, which inevitably means the dumbing down of material.

Problem: this penalizes smart kids who need to learn and advance, because schools are catering to those who cannot.

A Culture of Convenience Can't Grasp Slow But Increasing Problems

On the other side is the public, which increasingly believes that climate change is real and worries about it, but which rarely ranks it as a high priority. A 2007 survey by the U.N. Development Programme found that 54% of Americans advocate taking a "wait and see" approach to climate-change action — holding off on the deep and rapid cuts in global warming that would immediately impact their lives. (And it's not just SUV-driving Americans who take this position — similar majorities were found in Russia, China and India.) As a result, we have our current dilemma: a steady drumbeat of scientific evidence of global warming's severity and comparatively little in the way of meaningful political action.

That's where Sterman's research comes in. "There is a profound and fundamental misconception about climate," he says. The problem is that most of us don't really understand how carbon accumulates in the atmosphere. Increasing global temperatures are driven by the increase in the concentration of carbon in the atmosphere. Before the industrial age, the concentration was about 280 parts per million (p.p.m.) of carbon in the atmosphere. After a few centuries of burning coal, oil and other fossil fuels, we've raised that concentration to 387 p.p.m., and it continues to rise by about 2 p.p.m. every year. Many scientists believe that we need to at least stabilize carbon concentrations at 450 p.p.m. to ensure that global temperatures don't increase more than about 2 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial level. To do that, we need to reduce global carbon emissions (which hit about 10 billion tons last year) until they are equal to or less than the amount of carbon sequestered by the oceans and plant life (which removed about 4.8 billion tons of carbon last year)."

Great article; what we can add that he can't, because it's politically unpopular:

  • We can add forests that soak up carbon, but they take space we might otherwise want to use.

  • Humanity needs a plan for when it stops growing, and governments that can enforce it, or we'll dominate all of earth.

  • Global warming isn't our only environmental problem. Pollution, land overuse, species genocide, decrease in genetic fitness of species, ecosystem interruption, and oversaturation with beneficial chemicals are all part of the problem.

  • No matter how much we individually reduce our carbon footprint, it's irrelevant if we keep growing as a species. Overbreeding, immigration, and political instability contribute here.

A few things to keep in mind when you hear public figures bloviating about global warming.

At Least 40% of Your Personality is 100% Genetic

An Australian psychologist has aggregated the results of hundreds of studies on human behaviour and found 40 per cent can be put down to human genetics.

"We looked at a whole range of normal and problem behaviours, and what we found was that again and again, the genetic component of these behaviours tended to clump around the 40 per cent mark."

He said this definitively makes genetics the single most powerful influence on a person's behaviour over their lifetime.

"People need to keep working on their bad habits or behaviours if they want to change them, especially if they are predisposed to continue them," he said.

No surprise here -- with abilities, and preferences, behaviors join the trifecta of intangible things we know to be genetic.

"Some voters are choosing Obama because of his race."

Seven out of 10—or 70 percent—of Americans questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. Survey released Friday said the race of the candidates will not be a factor in their vote for president this year.

“First, don’t assume that everyone who says that race is factor in their votes are voting against Obama. Some voters are choosing Obama because of his race....” said Keating Holland, CNN polling director.

Interesting confirmation.

Vote for the perceived underdog, and you'll feel like a wealthy king giving gifts to the innocent and maligned.

Kids Getting (Demographically) Stupider

Every now and then there's something worth explaining in detail because it sounds unlike what it is:

The intellect of even the brainiest 14-year-olds has deteriorated dramatically over the decades despite an increase in the number of pupils achieving top grades in exams.

Their cognitive abilities are level with those of 12-year-olds in 1976, the study found.

Researchers at King's College London compared the mental agility of 800 bright 13 and 14-year-olds with similar tests carried out some three decades ago.

But only just over one in ten pupils were able to demonstrate a "higher level of thinking" compared to one in four in 1976.

Yahoo! UK

What they mean is not that our brightest kids are slower, but that there are more dumb kids.

Between the many factors possible here, most genetic but some related to worse nutrition, screwed up homes, too much TV and A2M porn, etc., the majority of our population is regressing to chimpanzee or Homo Ergaster abilities.

Signs of the decline? Well, when you consider that high IQ correlates to how wealthy and stable a nation is, suddenly you've got a problem.

Check out the table of nation IQs. The United Kingdom was 100; Russia was 96; Mexico was 87. Where would you rather live?

Everybody Will Be Covered

Powerful House Democrats are eyeing proposals to overhaul the nation’s $3 trillion 401(k) system, including the elimination of most of the $80 billion in annual tax breaks that 401(k) investors receive.

Under Ghilarducci’s plan, all workers would receive a $600 annual inflation-adjusted subsidy from the U.S. government but would be required to invest 5 percent of their pay into a guaranteed retirement account administered by the Social Security Administration. The money in turn would be invested in special government bonds that would pay 3 percent a year, adjusted for inflation.

The current system of providing tax breaks on 401(k) contributions and earnings would be eliminated.

“I want to spend our nation’s dollar for retirement security better. Everybody would now be covered” if the plan were adopted, Ghilarducci said.

It sounds so good. "Everybody will be covered," which almost seems to protect us from the clueless who won't manage to save anything before retirement.

And it's a neat idea, making us use the cash from everybody to earn money for the rest.

But it eliminates the option of the frugal to save, and save well, for their retirement, and replaces it with more government bureaucracy -- but at least everyone is covered, even if badly.

It's like hobos sharing a blanket. "We can't all have full cover, so let's cut it into tiny scraps, and then we'll each have some."

Humans Mastered Fire 0.8m Years Ago

A NEW study shows that humans had the ability to make fire nearly 790,000 years ago, a skill that helped them migrate from Africa to Europe.

By analysing flints at an archaeological site on the bank of the river Jordan, researchers at Israel's Hebrew University discovered that early civilizations had learned to light fires, a turning point that allowed them to venture into unknown lands.

Perth Now

Interesting that we've been differentiated for that long. 800,000 years is a long time for evolution to work on Europeans and Asians, who presumably branched off shortly after that point.

Paranoia and Fear and Doubt Increasing, Love Falling

Levels of paranoia and mistrust are much higher than previously thought and are increasing, it was claimed.

Dr Freeman, a Wellcome Trust Research Career Development Fellow, said: "We seem to have entered an age of paranoia. And the indications are that things may only get worse."

He said a combination of factors was fuelling a new era of suspiciousness, including the increasing number of people living in cities, the physical environment in which we live, growing wealth inequalities and the reporting of crime and terrorism.

The Telegraph

He's right. Consider the factors:

  • Casual sex: welcome to trusting no one to be a whole person, but instead to manipulate others for temporary pleasure.

  • Multiculturalism: we're not all from the same tradition, values system and heritage, so we're battling it out in the businesses and streets.

  • Political instability: we have bigger weapons, better spies, and instead of having one world master we're now fighting it out for this role.

  • Demise of religion: even if a transcendental belief in forests for atheists, some sense of reverent holistic appreciation for life and belief in it as an ongoing order is helpful.

  • Media: paranoia, horror, doubt, fear and sodomy of innocents sell; contentment, balance, simplicity and wisdom don't.

  • Economy: everything, including all information around us and our doctor's words, is a product. For this reason, we know that every aspect of our lives is designed to profit from us -- to parasitize us. We don't trust but we must use, so the uneasy balance continues.

  • Drugs: instead of letting a few knock themselves out with drugs, we're running around in paramilitary gear trying to bust people.

  • Ugliness: utilitarian design covered with advertising. Blecch!

I'm sure there are more.

Most Republicans Are Hesitant About Global Warming

Overall, 73 percent of Americans believe that global warming is happening. But when you look at this finding by political party affiliation, only one-half (54 percent) of Republicans believe it is happening, versus 90 percent of Democrats.

The presence and size of this divide with respect to environmental action is only a recent phenomenon. Many of the landmark American environmental laws that are still in effect today were signed by Republican presidents.

I ascribe this to being fed up with the left wing and its numerous paranoiac, defensive, reactionary and delusional responses.

Environmentalism is seen as a left-wing issue, but as this writer points out, it's not. Conservatives call it "conservation," and until they found themselves derailed by defending against the liberal horde and their civil-rights-fueled agenda, it was a big part of the right's platform in this country.

Infantilism and Domestication

If you adopt an animal after he or she has spent some time in the wild, the animal will be mostly what a domesticated one is, but will lack the constant sense of being aware of consequences to the feelings of others. A wilder animal is more likely to scratch, or break things, or crap in the donations basket. They are not conditioned to pay attention to others constantly.

The only time most are in that condition is when they are puppies or kittens. Their lives are entirely determined by how they socialize with their brothers and sisters; everything else is beyond their control. This reminds me how domesticated animals are kept in this infantile state to make them docile. Snip off the hormone-producing testes or ovaries, feed them so they never have to compete with nature to eat, and you have a tractable critter.

In the same way our generations since the boomers have been domesticated. We tell them the big sin is to defecate on someone else's dream, or tell them they can't do something, or worse of all, hurt or kill them. This means society cannot counteract its parasites, either of the criminal kind or the more virulent passive-aggressive strain. To buy them off, we let them masturbate their own egos with a sense of entitlement and moral superiority for being neutered. Perfect domestication.

That Which Rises Is the Eternal Minority

I read the local newspaper today, where they had a list of people they'd interviewed and their stories and pictures.

All the people voting McCain, save one, were white suburbanites.

All the people voting Obama, save one, were of a minority group or recent naturalized immigrants.

It leads me to think of humanity in these simple terms: some rise, and the others unite against them, because they want what those few have on the basis of being human, also.

It's a nice way around having to take responsibility for life, this sense of entitlement, as well as a good way to avoid the knowledge that we are not supreme beings. We cannot will ourselves to be equal. We cannot control the circumstances of our birth. And those two can't-controls remind us of the big can't-control, which is our lack of control over time and, with it, death.

There is one eternal minority to humanity and it is those who have by force of will, mind, body and soul risen above the rest, and if we ever want to get off this rock or have culture worth adoring, we need to cherish and revere those (without letting them know it, so they don't get big heads).

History of the Races of India

From at least the third century C.E. three major Dravidian kingdoms existed in South India: the kingdoms of Pandya, Chera and Chola. Pandya was the southernmost Dravidian kingdom. The major city of Pandya was Madurai, the location of the famous chapel of the Tamil Sangam (Academy). The Sangam, of which there were three, was initiated by a body of forty-eight exceptionally learned scholars who established standards over all literary productions. The Pandyan rulers received these intellectuals with lavish honors.

It is also important to note that in the kingdom of the Pandyas women seem to have enjoyed a high status. This is the exact opposite of the regions of India where the Whites ruled. In these lands of Aryan domination it is said that a woman was never independent. “When she is a child she belongs to her father. As an adult when she marries she belongs to her husband. If she outlives her husband she belongs to her sons.” An early queen of the Pandyas, on the other hand, for example, is credited with controlling an army of 500 elephants, 4,000 cavalry and 13,000 infantry.

Escape from India

Not sure what I think about this yet. Reading on. I think it would be fascinating if we found out that Asia had developed a parallel genetic structure to the west as a result of an ancient fragmentation on leaving Africa.

Oh No, Racial Preferences On the Witless Dance Show

Viewers of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing have been accused of racism after the show's only black contestants were involved in a "dance-off".

The furore follows Rising Damp star Don Warrington and M People singer Heather Small coming bottom in the public vote last Sunday even though judges gave them more points than three white contestants.

A BBC insider has reportedly admitted that execs were shocked by the public vote, adding: “Having two black people in the bottom two who hadn’t even performed badly was a very bad look for us.”

Daily Mail

Maybe people don't want to be multicultural, and they're voting for that here since they don't get the choice in the polls?

It'd be awesome to offer people -- in the privacy of a voting both, secret ballotwise -- this question:

"If we could implement any changes to procedure without harming anyone, would you prefer:

(A) A multiculturnal nation
(B) A historically ethnic nation"

I bet you'd find that while many people vote "A" because that's what the TV says is right and cool and you want to be right and cool, don't you, the people who work independently to lead this society -- business owners, thinkers, artisans and so forth -- would be voting overwhelmingly for "B."

Words to An Alienated Teenager From His Potential Future Self

Recognize reality, but don't become negative.

You realize that this society is moribund, that people are in denial, that most of them are stupid and/or have vapid values, that jobs are for tools and that your government is basically a retard with a FEMA card.

Your job, if you reflect on it, is to master this system, and you can, because you're a realist.

There's no point running away to your bedroom, retarded record store job, and drugs, convincing yourself that you've escaped it all. You haven't. In twenty years, you'll hate yourself. (Look at the rock-n-roll burnouts from failed bands you see flogging their wares for proof of that... )

It's better to admit that some things are gonna suck, but if you play it well, you can come out ahead and be a leader of men for your virtuous conduct and direct assertion of reality.

There is no point going after the things that aren't going to change. Too many heads of the Hydra. Instead, strike at the core of society: its lack of realistic leaders who show others better ways to act, to conduct their lives and businesses, to think, and so forth.

Your favorite rock music may have run its course -- probably temporarily -- but the heavy metal spirit and mythic imagination lives on. Create; do not retreat. Strike hard and fast every god damn day.

This world doesn't need more people obsessed by entertainment, withdrawn into themselves, making excuses for being failures because society suxx and it oppresses them. Make something of it. You can and you owe it to yourself and your ancestors to do this.

There's a point to this: as civilization collapses, most people are going to give up and start pleasing only themselves and abandoning every other pursuit -- which is exactly what caused the decline, strengthens it and what makes our lives a mess daily when we have to interact with our selfish, oblivious, cruel and often imbecilic fellow citizens.

You either join the giving-up-and-pretending-you're-too-cool-to-care trend, or you start working to reverse the situation -- which benefits both you and the world at large, including both society and nature.

Our civilization is not the first to have failed. Others have preceded us, great civilizations with learning and culture, although maybe not our technology. Not all will go down in the slow "whimper and not a bang" that takes thriving civilizations like ancient Greece and leaves behind burnt-out husks that get dominated and invaded by once-weaker enemies.

You can be one of those people who makes a difference, becomes a leader, counteracts the trend. Or, you can fire up the Wii, plop your ass on the sofa and become one with the entropy. There is a choice. No one is "oppressing" you; this is a cycle of history. But you're defined by whether you act or passively watch.

The Elites Bloviate About Their Favorite Cities

A big deal is being made of this in a certain New York paper, which points out that these cities don't like Republicans:

1. Arlington, Va.
2. Plano, Texas
3. Overland Park, Kan.
4. Madison, Wis.
5. Scottsdale, Ariz.
6. Raleigh, N.C.
7. Fremont, Calif.
8. Huntington Beach, Calif.
9. Durham, N.C.
10. Boise, Idaho

These areas were picked for what percentage of the population had bachelor's degrees and beyond, ethnic diversity, rich cultural life, etc.

As with all things, we need to ask: who is doing the picking -- the defining of the categories we see as reality -- and why?

Elites arise in any dying nation through the same method. They don't like the system, define themselves in opposition to it, but they've carved out a nice life for themselves, and they like others around them to be the same way.

We haven't ever seen them produce good culture, for example, and the cities they make are often only good for those who are self-congratulatory about their Progressive views and lifestyles. For others, calmer places that are more family-friendly might be preferred.

You've got to keep an eye on those elites. They're self-promoting, and just because they claim truth doesn't mean it's the case.
